Gola del Furlo e Sentina
The Gola del Furlo e Sentina remains untouched by mankind. This narrow canyon has been carved out over millions of years by the erosive effect of the Candigliano river, which winds it way through the steep slopes of the Pietrata and Paganoccio mountains before joining the Metauro river. This area holds immense geological value. Its unique geology and morphology have fostered a vast array of micro-climates that nourish highly diverse vegetation.
Around 100 botanic areas, including: The Macchia delle Tassinite; Macchia di Montenereo; Mediterranean vegetation; and the State Forest of Cingoli. Two of the protected botanic areas, the Macchia delle Tassinete and la Macchia del Montenero, cover 4,500 hectares of vegetation and forests, criss-crossed by numerous, enchanting nature trails that can be explored on foot, horseback or by mountain bike.
